Harmonic – 2.2

It’s only been a day or so since the last update, but we thought we should keep on a roll.
So, welcome to Harmonic 2.2. Here’s what’s new:
- New colors: indigo and pink
- Looks nicer when the lyrics are set to “Instrumental”
- Fixed issue where preferences button was hidden on some color schemes
- Preferences button is now on the left
- More reliably finds lyrics under alternate names and through LyricWiki redirects
- Fixed an issue with ColorSync that could cause Harmonic to look funny on some monitor setups
- Made the “Update Available” banner more obviously clickable
- Tweaked preferences layout

Just curious about the comment “More reliably finds lyrics under alternate names and through LyricWiki redirects”….
The LyricWiki API does redirects automatically and has for some time, so if you’re using the API you shouldn’t be able to see the redirects. Were you just referring to this feature existing in the API, or are you scraping the site instead of using the API or is there another option I’m not realizing?

Harmonic uses the REST API, which apparently does not follow redirects correctly for some songs.
Hmmm, the lyrics are there in the widget, but when I click paste lyrics, all that shows up in my iTunes Lyrics info box, is the last thing I copied. In other words if I was using text edit and used the copy function, the paste arrow on the widget only pastes that text. Please help. Thanks.
Dave, that is exactly how copy and paste works. What were you expecting it to paste if it wasn’t the last thing you copied?
On a song change, the lyric pane remains down at the position it was for the previous song. Shouldnt it display the lyrics from the start(top) whenever a new song starts? Thanks.
When I install Harmonic to my Dashboard and open iTunes, it comes up alright, but it only displays a triangle with a ! in it and (null) below it. Can this be fixed?

is this a setting within Harmonic? Or something I haven’t seen yet in iTunes?
Jai, that means that if the lyrics are set to “Instrumental” (i.e. the word “instrumental” is typed into the lyrics field in iTunes). Many of the songs in the lyrics database are already set to “instrumental”.
Now I simply get…
“Fatal error: Call to undefined function wfProfileln() in /var/www/html/lyricwiki.org/includes/Set on line 22″
but that is because http://lyricwiki.org/ is having trouble.
It looks like LyricWiki is down right now… uh-oh.
I haven’t been able to use your software for quite a few months now, it never seems to able to get any results. I always have to use google and then copy paste the lyrics.
A great program a few years back, but I am sorry guys… I don’t know what have happened, but I am not impressed.

I’m on 10.4.11 behind a network(using proxy), and it never is able to download any new lyric(almost instantaneously says ‘lyrics not found’)! Before this, i was using v2.0(.2?) and that would find the lyrics in a couple of seconds!
Did LyricWiki’s latest update break the new version?
I was just noticing the new Instrumental addition to Harmonic (Thanks!) but was wondering if there could be some way that whenever “Instrumental” is found as the lyrics that it could show up like “♫ Instrumental”? (I use the lyrics on my iPhone, and it would be a nice touch. :])
not pulling up anything, even though i can find it on lyricwiki with ease. what gives?
It says (null) below an !, can this be fixed or is it becuse of lyricwiki being down?
Aakif had a good question that didn’t get answered. If you scroll down to the bottom of one song’s lyrics then the next song lyrics display from the bottom. It seems it should default to the top of each new song. Does this need fixing or is it intentional?

Thanks for pointing out the bug in the API related to redirects. It should be fixed now (see your example).
If you find any other bugs, please let me know and I can try to fix them for everyone & save you a little dev-time.

I have with this letter : à è ò ì ù . Got a “�” in text ! How can I resolve this problem ?
I love your program, especially as a free widget! But it would be nice to address the problem described by MacGiangi above, about the Spanish or Latin characters. It is possible to manually make the corrections, but time consuming. Fortunately, this program does put the lyrics into iTunes, and it is easier to edit the lyrics there than elsewhere.
I love Harmonic; however, I agree with Dave from March 11. When I use Harmonic and the words of the song are there…. I click past and it puts the last thing I copied (not the words to the song) into itunes. How do I copy the words of the song and pate them into itunes. The paste button in Harmonic does not work.

I never came across one of those songtext finders that works properly. Nobody seems to be able to make a working one.
How can they expect to recieve a donation for this ?

Harmonic automatically puts the lyrics in itunes for you.
The paste button is for pasting lyrics into Harmonic.
I’d hate to give up on Harmonic, I’ve used it for so long. Is there any chance of really making it work?

It appears to be working for me… I’m not sure what the problem is. Send an email and perhaps we can sort it out!
Installed Harmonic recently and it put a smile on my face! Yeah, the thing is great! Great! …But… I just hooked my external HD with all the music to Time capsule and Harmonic widget just says ‘Null’… for all songs. It still does it’s job perfectly (adding lyrics to iTunes, that is). I also noticed that, when using Harmonic, info on song playing in iTunes doesn’t show no lyrics or artwork! When I turn off Harmonic, everything is OK again. Could it be something with permissions and Time Capsule?
(sorry for being one of those who keep quiet while everything works and whine when it doesn’t… and XL thnx for Harmonic!)

some songs not found.can i import the songs to the program?
Harmonic erased my lyrics in favor of it’s own.
I shut down my internet connection to see what was happening and It told me it couldn’t find lyrics that I already entered.

Harmonic is certainly not intended to do this, and (as far as I can tell) never does. Please email software@mindquirk.com and we’ll try to fix the problem.

I installed harmonic and when I played an iTune I got a message about a bunch of connection errors and something about mysqladmin flush-host.
I don’t get it because my daughter installed it on her computer and it worked like a champ.
Nice program, congrats about that =). But I have a problem, it’s curious that when I start listening Dream Theater songs the lyrics won’t show, and I go to lyricwiki and the lyrics are there. Is there a way to fix that??? I don’t know if there are other songs with that problem
i loved this widget v2.3. but now only the web address is shown and copied to the music file. is there any chance you solve this problem? otherwise i had to stop working with this wonderful little helper. nevertheless thanx for your great work!

harmonyc widget why don’t show the complete lyrics? just the 1st paragraph and then “…”. Thx
arrghh, im only seeing the first 5 or six lines of lyrics. then it is cut off by “[...]“. WHY?! This is so frustrating. Can anyone remedy this problem?
