Lyrics Not Found

March 13th, 2008

You may have noticed that Harmonic recently hasn’t been able to find any new lyrics. This is because of an issue with [LyricWiki](http://lyricwiki.org/), whose [API](http://lyricwiki.org/LyricWiki:REST), has stopped returning lyrics correctly. We’re hoping this will be fixed soon, and the next version of Harmonic will include a few backup lyrics sites in case of an issue with LyricWiki. We are, however, still looking for good lyrics websites to leverage in Harmonic besides LyricWiki. If anybody has any suggestions, we’d love to hear about them in the comments. Apologies for the inconvenience!

**Edit (March 16):** LyricWiki is operational again!

azlyrics.com is a great lyrics site.

azlyrics?
….
i don’t know what exactly you are looking for terms of a website, but http://www.lyricsdir.com/ is a great site i StumbleUpon’d a couple weeks ago.
hope that helps—-I love the widget! thank you so much for continuing to support it.

brianisbrilliant

i was gonna say http://www.lyricsdir.com, and http://www.darklyrics.com has always been a good place for, i guess a heavier genre of lyrics.

brianisbrilliant

oh, you know what else? songmeanings.com always has the lyrics i want and more.

MBlovesTIX

I usually use http://www.azlyrics.com/ and http://www.letssingit.com/

Thanks a lot for makin this widget, I love it!

Japican

I agree with brianisbrilliant; http://www.songmeanings.net is a great lyrics site. Another one that I like to use is http://lyricsmania.com/. They are organized and sorted nicely.

I am going to go ahead and also suggest azlyrics.com. I’ve used their site for almost ten years, and it’s especially great because there are no advertisements in between the lyrics (which is pretty annoying when it shows up in the widget).

azlyrics.com has always been the best for me whenever the widget would fail to automatically retrieve lyrics.

Great results now! Numerous songs whose lyrics couldn’t be found before are coming up with pretty clean lyrics. Someone has really cleaned up their act.
Many Thanks!

Simon

hi http://www.letssingit.com is a really good page!

Kathryn

http://www.letssingit.com/ has always been my favourite followed closely by http://www.songmeanings.net/

I know that these have already been suggested, I just wanted to support them.

For the type of music I usually listen to, I almost always find my lyrics at http://www.lyricsfreak.com. I find it to be one of the most serious sites for lyrics, plus it has a great selecction.

John

metrolyrics.com recently (today, April 3, 2008) signed a deal with Gracenote to get licensed lyrics. So, their lyrics can be used without violating any copyrights. Plus, it means that they will have verified lyrics directly from the labels. So, it might be a good idea to use that site as the primary search. At least that’s what I was thinking. I’m actually thinking about making my own dashboard widget that will do that. So, if you could let me know what you think of the idea, I’d appreciate it.

daniel

they are looking for an API not just a website. You could use Google’s search API and just search for the lyrics by song title that way… but that may be a coding nightmare.

If I might suggest. Put an off option for the auto lyrics search. It just dosen’t work for Brazilian Music for example, gives allways wrongs results and uses to causes litles stops in my songs when in bg. But overall I love the widget!

Ewan

What about http://music.yahoo.com/lyrics

It’s supposedly the only official listing place for a whole bunch of lyrics

I can’t paste any lyrics :S and program seem to run slow :S

running harmonic 2.2 on an ibook 1,2ghz 1,25ram, with mac os x10.4.11

Nice widget. Thanks for the hard work.
Song stuttering could be avoided by waiting until the active song changes to actually write the lyrics to the file.

SAMURAi

First of all congrats for the best widget on the world about Lyrics! :]
Then, if you could make it happen, to add into Harmonic the http://www.ohhla.com/ its Hiphop Lyrics, huuuuge collection! :) Thanks from Greece!

Couldn’t see where else to put this, but Xbox Live Friends just doesn’t work anymore…

Dave

Is it just me or has Harmonic been broken for the last 3 weeks?

@Dave

I just tested out Harmonic and it appears to work just fine.

Chris

The lyrics are there on LyricWiki, it’s just that Harmonic misses them quite often. Like right now I’m listening to a Radiohead album and Harmonic has missed more than half of them even though it’s in LyricWiki. I installed an old copy of pearLyrics and it nailed them all. :P

@Chris

What is an example of a track/artist name that you have in iTunes that Harmonic does not find that is on LyricWiki.

Rafaelo

http://www.lyrics007.com is a great website for lyrics.

wahoo

Uh…It’s still not working for meeee

Gabe

I’m getting this message, but dont know what it means…

Host ‘pedlfaster.pedlr.com’ is blocked because of many connection errors; unblock with ‘mysqladmin flush-hosts’

This message is bieng copied into my “Lyrics” in iTunes…
Help?

Joey

I’d like to second “www.letssingit.com.” azlyrics.com is pretty good, too, though.

Song stuttering is annoying. After about a second or so the song briefly pauses and begins again while the lyrics are written to the song file. I wish there was an option to turn this feature off.
